NAI Mobile Donates $6,000 for Mobile Police Department Bicycle Initiative

We have heard it time and time again as Mobilians: “There’s no great city without a great downtown.” Once again, Mayor Sandy Stimpson emphasized this message in a press conference held Wednesday in collaboration with the Mobile Police Department.

“Our goal is to make sure everybody downtown knows we’re approachable,” said Chief Lawrence Battiste of the Mobile Police Department, “and certainly one day become the safest city in America.” To help achieve this goal, Chief Battiste and the precinct are acquiring new bicycles for extra reach, mobility and accessibility of the department to civilians.

When the Mobile Law Enforcement Foundation (MLEF) heard the downtown precinct was in need of eight new bicycles, it immediately started resourcing the help of downtown businesses. “Within three hours, we had fulfilled that need to pay for all eight bikes,” said John Arendall of MLEF.

One of those downtown businesses who helped fund the bicycle initiative was NAI Mobile, a commercial real estate firm serving the Gulf Coast. “When offered this opportunity, the partners instantly and unanimously concurred,” said John Peebles, a partner of NAI Mobile.

NAI Mobile donated $6,000 to MLEF for the bicycles, more than half of the total amount raised.

“We office downtown, we do a lot of business downtown, and some of us even live downtown; so this is a partnership NAI Mobile is delighted to enter,” said Peebles.

“Without [NAI Mobile] stepping up,” said Arendall, “I don’t think we’d be here today.”
